ERASMI Partners discuss actions for the upcoming third project year in 5th Transnational Meeting
On 14 December 2021, the ERASMI project consortium met online for there 5th Transnational Meeting. Initially planned as an in-person meeting in Perugia, Italy, the meeting has been organised virtually by Frontiera Lavoro due to the ongoing effects of the pandemic.
The aim of the project partners from Germany, Turkey, Italy, Ireland and Denmark, which are working together since 2019 in an ERASMUS+ funded project, is to professionalise stakeholders in the field of migrant and refugee inclusion and to empower them to build strong networks. For this purpose, the partners used the Transnational Meeting to exchange ideas on a guide for developing networks in the field of migrant and refugee inclusion, which is currently being developed by the Turkish partner Tuzla Kaymakamlığı. The document is intended to be a useful step-by-step guide for stakeholders and was developed based on the previous work of the partnership.
In the last two years, the project has already produced a Compendium of Good Practices on network-based cooperation for migrant and refugee inclusion and, building on this, a practical Toolkit with methods for the development and sustainable maintenance of networks. In addition, the project partners have established four regional networks in Leitrim (Ireland), Umbria (Italy), Tuzla (Turkey) and Saxony-Anhalt (Germany) to foster the exchange of regional actors and have thus gained a lot of practical knowledge in networking. The project results so far can be accessed via an interactive Open Online Platform or via the project website www.erasmi.info.
Beyond the work on project results, meeting host Frontiera Lavoro facilitated a discussion with an Italian family from Umbria region that has welcomed an unaccompanied minor refugee and shared their inspiring story. This success story was made possible by the network A Misura di Bambio which aims to provide unaccompanied minor refugees with a better form of reception, ideally in a family environment. This example demonstrates the concrete contribution networks can make and is therefore also recognised by the ERASMI project as an example of Good Practice.
In the coming months, the partners aim to promote the transnational exchange of networks and stakeholders in the field of migrant and refugee inclusion and will set up a Knowledge Exchange Platform from January 2022 which can be accessed via the Open Online Platform. All interested actors are invited to share their knowledge or simply learn from the experiences of others. The comprehensive learning materials and the promotion of transnational exchange of stakeholders is the ERASMI project’s small, but hopefully significant contribution to strengthening the heterogeneous actors in the field of migrant and refugee inclusion to tackle the huge task of inclusion.
